Have you ever wanted to experience something different in your life yet you kept stopping yourself from allowing it to happen?
If you are nodding your head yes, this is for you!
What is Self-Sabotage:
A thought, belief or behavior that undermines your success despite your desire to experience something different than what you’ve been experiencing in your world.
Whether it’s in a relationship, job, with money, self-sabotage is when a part of you (your subconscious) is working against your conscious self.
"Yup, I know that Heather, but WHY do I do it?” you ask?
Keep reading grasshopper!
Why Do We Self-Sabotage?
Every human experiences some level of self-sabotage at some point in their lives.
It seems illogical on the surface —why would we intentionally do things that prevent us from getting what we think we want?
When we dive a little deeper, we can see that sabotage has its own logic.
The Logic of Self-Sabotage
Our subconscious is 95% of who we...
“I have anxiety”
“I’m just an anxious person"
This time of year it’s not uncommon to hear some form of those words.
Anxiety about:
* Spending time with family
* Having enough money for the holidays
* Having enough time to do everything
* Being around so much junk food when you are attempting to be healthy...
* Holiday traveling
The list can go on and on….
So what is “Anxiety”?
Google says anxiety is your body’s natural response to stress.
Last week we talked about Stress and how google says it’s “Physical, mental or emotional strain or tension"
But that doesn’t answer what stress is.
Beyond money, time, jobs, stress is the belief that reality should be different than it currently is.
Anxiety and Stress are similar ~ the difference is that Anxiety is a perceived belief about something that hasn’t yet happened while stress is a belief about something in the past/current/future (PTSD would be the exception to...
What is Stress?
If you google it…. you’ll probably find a definition similar to:
“Physical, mental or emotional strain or tension"
AND….it doesn’t answer what causes stress?
What Causes Stress?
If you google it... you’ll probably find that money, work, and poor health cause stress.
AND…that’s not really true.
There are plenty of people in the world who have no money and don’t experience stress.
AND, there are plenty of people in the world who have a TON of money and experience a lot of stress.
It’s not money that causes stress.
It’s your BELIEF about money, work and health (and every other thing in your life) that creates the energetic frequency you live in, which actually causes stress.
What Causes Stress to Increase?
If you google it….you’ll probably read that having many major life changes can add to stress or a lot of little “stressors” in a short period of time.
AND….what REALLY...
I found this recipe in Veganomicon, The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook and it so surprisingly tastes just like a Sloppy Joe that you’ll never miss the meat (don’t worry, it’s just as sloppy as the meat-version).
Wanting a little more of a kick I added in cayenne and black pepper (which is surprising since I’m not one for “kick” in my food).
If you have a good gluten-free bun then you’ll be taken back to childhood. Or, you can do it like I do and forgo the bun (In the not-so-pretty picture it’s on a piece of gluten-free bread, open-face style…oh, and I didn't have any green peppers so that's why it looks so blah & mono-color).
What’s Amazing About This Dish?
Lentils--For those of us with blood sugar issues, lentils are our best friends! Their protein content and soluble fiber trap carbohydrates slowing down digestion so we don’t have crazy blood sugar plummets. And that keeps ups Smart and Sexy all day long!
Cayenne...
Go to any restaurant and order a creamy soup and guaranteed it has some form of dairy in it.
Why?
Because most chefs don’t realize that you can make soup “creamy” without adding in the dairy.
Which is so annoying for those of us who can’t have dairy.
(I think I should go on a mission to educate restaurants on how to make non-dairy soups…seriously, if the soups don’t have dairy then they have gluten in it…what’s a girl with food sensitivities to do? Oh yeah, make my own--it’s better anyway :) )
How do I make “creamy” soups without the cream? Using oats is one little fantastic secret I learned at The Natural Gourmet and I swear by it.
This soup is sooooo delicious, easy and satisfying. It will quickly become your autumn/winter favorite like it is mine!
What’s Amazing About This Soup?
Carrots--Sweet and grounding this crunchy little powerhouse of deliciousness is packed with beta-carotene that is not only good...
If you are into Chili and would like to try something different than the standard meat, this is the recipe for you.
I’m pretty much a wimp when it comes to spice (and that is putting it mildly) so I think It is a bit spicier than I like BUT everyone I’ve made it for thinks it's fine. If you like the heat, feel free to turn it up a notch.
AND--this makes a HUGE Batch. I like to cook 1x and eat many times--feel free to make it how it is and then put some in the freezer or make half the batch.
What’s Amazing About This Dish?
Quinoa--Talking about Fiber isn’t so sexy but when your body is getting enough fiber it certainly feels sexy. Quinoa contains almost twice as much fiber as most other grains, which helps to prevent heart disease by reducing high blood pressure and diabetes.
Black Beans--Balancing blood sugars is always a smart decision. The protein and fiber in Black Beans help to keep the rate of movement in the digestive tract steady and stable, keeping...
I wish that I could take credit for this dish because it is Delish!
This recipe is one of my favorites from the cookbook "Greens Glorious Greens."
It may seem complicated to make at first but once you get it down, you’ll be able to make it in a snap!
What’s Amazing About This Dish?
Quinoa--Pronounced “Keen-wah” (not “kwin-oh-ah”) Quinoa was considered to be sacred by the Inca’s. It has all of the essential amino acids, which makes it a complete protein and is gluten-free.
Chickpeas (aka garbanzo beans)--High in fiber and protein chickpeas are great for those of us who want to keep our blood sugar levels stable.
Spinach--Here’s an Interesting Fact--Despite what Popeye said about Spinach being high in iron, it isn’t.
Why did he mislead us?
Before his time, a typist misplaced a decimal point, making spinach look almost as good as iron fillings.
But…it is great to keep our immune systems strong and inflammation down (make sure...
